SANDY SPRINGS, GA (April 18, 2023) – On Tuesday, April 18th, 2023, Sandy Springs Mayor and City Council approved a contract award of $242,459.70 to Vertical Earth, Inc. for a streambank stabilization project near 5375 Long Island Drive.

The project involves re-grading approximately 145 linear feet of eroded streambank along Long Island Creek to address scouring on the creek bank that potentially threatens a section of the Long Island Drive roadway shoulder.

The repair and restoration project will incorporate armoring to rebuild the streambank and protect it against erosion. The project also includes the installation of 370 linear feet of curb and gutter and 338 linear feet of guardrail along Long Island Drive adjacent to the re-graded slope.

The City plans to begin construction on the project in early summer of 2023.
