Sandy Springs City Council approves construction for Johnson Ferry Road/Mount Vernon Highway Improvements

SANDY SPRINGS (Dec. 19, 2023) - During its December 19, 2023 meeting, the City Council approved a contract with Vertical Earth for $15,881,592.80 to construct the Johnson Ferry Road/Mount Vernon Highway Intersection Improvements. 

This TSPLOST-funded improvement project will improve vehicular and pedestrian mobility and reduce congestion by alleviating the bottleneck conditions for east-west traffic on Johnson Ferry Road and Mount Vernon Highway and north-south traffic on Roswell Road.

Mount Vernon Highway and Johnson Ferry Road will be widened to contain an eastbound and westbound lane in each direction. 12-foot wide multi-use paths will be constructed on the inside shoulders of Mount Vernon Highway and Johnson Ferry Road, including six-foot wide sidewalks on the outside shoulders.

Construction is currently scheduled to begin in early 2024. Neighborhood informational meetings will be held during the duration of the project.  These meetings will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about the status of the project.
