July 31, 2024

The City of Sandy Springs invites the community to share their input on draft concepts for the North Springs MARTA Corridor Study during interactive community input meetings on Thursday, August 22.  The feedback received from these meetings will help refine draft concepts for the Peachtree Dunwoody Road corridor and North Springs MARTA Station.

When:            Thursday, August 22, 2024

                        Community Workshop: 10:00 a.m. – 4: 30 p.m. (Stop by any time)

                        Public Input Meeting: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Where:           Sandy Springs City Hall

                        1 Galambos Way

                        Sandy Springs, GA 30328

Event Overview

The focus of both meetings will be to get community input on draft alternative concepts to redesign Peachtree Dunwoody Road (Spalding Drive to Abernathy Road), and future development on the MARTA North Springs Station site.

  • Community Workshop: For community members who prefer a daytime activity, the project team will host informal drop-in hours for community members to review the draft concepts and provide input.
  • Public Input Meeting: At the evening meeting, the project team will present an overview of the project, critical findings about existing conditions, public input from the first round of engagement, and draft alternative concepts. Following the presentation, attendees will break into small groups to discuss the draft concepts and share additional ideas for the corridor and station site.

About the North Springs MARTA Corridor Study

The North Springs MARTA Corridor Study is a strategic project to make North Springs Station a more walkable destination by improving multimodal safety on Peachtree Dunwoody Road (Spalding Drive to Abernathy Road); identifying a preferred route to extend the Path 400 trail north to the station area; enhancing walking and biking access to the station; finding opportunities for placemaking at the station; and creating a concept for transit-oriented development on the North Springs MARTA Station property.

Upcoming Survey and Pop-up Events

Following the meeting, an online survey will be open to the public until Friday, September 6.  The City will also host pop-up events at the North Springs MARTA Station on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. and Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. Input from these activities will also inform the revised concepts.

This project is led by the City of Sandy Springs, with funding and support from the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) through its Livable Center Initiative program. MARTA and the Perimeter Community Improvement Districts (PCID) are key partners in this study.
