Sandy Springs Receives Abernathy Arts Center from Fulton County

September 22, 2021

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. (Sept. 21, 2021) — The Sandy Springs Public Facilities Authority has approved the transfer of the Abernathy Arts Center property from Fulton County to the City of Sandy Springs.

The property, located at 254 Johnson Ferry Road in Sandy Springs, was transferred through a donation to the City from Fulton County as part of a quit claim deed.

The City is evaluating several potential uses for the building, including possibly housing the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust and its Anne Frank museum featuring new state-of-the-art exhibits.

“I am excited about the future of this location and what it means to the citizens of Sandy Springs,” said Mayor Rusty Paul. “There are a number of possibilities for us to explore, including a potential partnership with the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust. I am also extremely thankful to Fulton County for their donation of this property to be used for art development in Sandy Springs. We sincerely appreciate their partnership and generosity.”
