National Kids to Parks Day Returns to Sandy Springs as an In-person Event

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. (May 9, 2022) – Sandy Springs and other cities across the nation will celebrate National Kids to Parks Day on Saturday, May 21 with a commitment to the motto: “Active Kids are Healthy Kids.”

This free event encourages residents to use local parks and recreation sites to develop more active, healthy lifestyles. This year marks the 12th anniversary of Kids to Parks Day. Always hosted on the third Saturday of May, this year’s event is a return to in-person celebrations and will take place at Hammond Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Activities include inflatables, water slides, popcorn, balloon artist, temporary tattoos, DJ, music, prizes, and more!

“I couldn’t be more excited for the in-person return of Kids to Parks Day in Sandy Springs,” Mayor Rusty Paul said. “Sandy Springs parks are known throughout the region and offer a wide range of activities for all to enjoy. Being active and outdoors is a great foundation to living a healthy lifestyle.”

While National Kids to Parks Day is a great annual event, Sandy Springs residents and visitors of all ages are encouraged to enjoy the many activities found in any one of the city’s 13 parks throughout the year.

The City’s newest park, Northwood Park, is located at 120 Northwood Drive. This “pocket park” is part of a new multi-use development that contains the headquarters of three non-profit organizations. The park was donated to the City by Taylor/Theus Holdings. Northwood Park features a playground, shade areas with picnic tables, a grass play area, and swings under an arbor.
