Public Information Open House Announced for Peachtree Dunwoody Road and Lake Hearn Drive Improvements

February 13, 2024

The City of Sandy Springs is hosting a Public Information Open House on proposed improvements at the intersection of Peachtree Dunwoody Road and Lake Hearn Drive.

WHEN:         Wednesday, February 28, 2024

                      4:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

WHERE:       Palisades Office Park

                      Building D; Conference Room D

                      5909 Peachtree Dunwoody Road

                      Sandy Springs, GA 30328

BACKGROUND:

There is insufficient intersection capacity and turn-lane storage for vehicles entering Peachtree- Dunwoody Road from Lake Hearn Drive, resulting in significant congestion on Lake Hearn Drive. This congestion can impact emergency vehicle access between Northside and St. Joseph’s hospitals and I-285. There are currently no bicycle lanes on Lake Hearn Drive and Peachtree-Dunwoody Road.

These improvements will reduce congestion and further promote pedestrian, bicycle, and MARTA transit. The project is being funded by the Federal Transit Authority with local matching funds from the Perimeter Community Improvement District.
