Sandy Springs Selects New Solicitor

April 1, 2022

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. (April 1, 2022)—The City of Sandy Springs has selected Katherine M. Hoffer as its new solicitor, effective April 4.

Hoffer, a Sandy Springs resident, has worked as an assistant U.S. attorney in Atlanta since 1991, most recently as senior litigation counsel and chief of the Rome, Ga. division as well as a liaison and attorney advisor in the major crimes section for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Prior to that, she was deputy chief of major crimes and chief of terrorism and violent crimes.

“We are excited to welcome Katherine Hoffer to Sandy Springs,” Mayor Rusty Paul said. “She has a wealth of legal experience and has spent her entire career in the Atlanta area. I look forward to her arrival and assuming this key responsibility.”

In addition to her work in the U.S Attorney’s Office, Hoffer was assistant district attorney in the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office and assistant solicitor in the Cobb County Solicitor’s Office.

The City’s previous solicitor, Steve Ellis, has accepted a position as the attorney for the Georgia Secretary of State’s Elections Division.
