When is a Plumbing Permit required?
A Plumbing Permit, rough inspection and final inspection are required for all plumbing projects, in all types of property including residential and commercial properties

When is a Plumbing Permit NOT required?
You do not need a Plumbing Permit for simple repairs such as unclogging a sink or if a Plumbing Permit is issued as part of a larger residential building permit or commercial building permit.

Who Can Apply for a Plumbing Permit
For residential projects, a permit can be obtained by a licensed contractor or the property owner. In order for the property owner to obtain a permit, the property must be their current permanent residence. For commercial projects, the permit must be applied for by a contractor.

How long will it take to get a Plumbing Permit?
Plumbing Permits are typically issued over the counter at the time of application.

You can apply for a permit online at Build Sandy Springs. Build Sandy Springs is where you can complete your application, submit construction drawings, pay invoices, request inspections, and view your current permit status.

You can also Schedule an Appointment via QLess to meet with one of our Permit Technicians at City Hall for further assistance with your application.

Required Inspections

  1. The rough inspection is conducted while the plumbing work is visible and before any plumbing work is covered by drywall.
  2. The final inspection is conducted when the project is completed.
