• New pool installations
• Repairs to existing pools
• Repairs or modifications to pool decking

When a Pool Permit Is Not Required

A Pool Permit is not required for above-ground pools with a depth of 2 feet or less.

Who Can Apply for a Pool Permit?

Pool Permits may be obtained by:

• Licensed contractors
• Property owners, if the property is their current permanent residence

Applying for a Pool Permit

Applications can be submitted online through Build Sandy Springs .

The portal also allows applicants to:

• Submit construction drawings
• Pay invoices
• Request inspections
• Track permit status

Applicants may also schedule an appointment through QLess to meet with a Permit Coordinator at City Hall for application assistance.

Required Application Documents

• Pool Permit Application
• Fence Permit Application (all swimming pools require a fence)
• City of Atlanta Water approval or evidence of an existing backflow preventer
• A site plan showing the location of the pool, including either:
  • A Pool Installation Plan
  • A Single Family Site Plan (SFSP) in place of the Pool Installation Plan

Permit Fees

Pool Permit fees include:

• $25 administrative fee
• $50 CO/CC fee
• Review fee:
  • $350 for outdoor pools
  • $200 for indoor pools
• Pool Building Permit fee:
  • $8 per $1,000 of construction valuation for commercial properties
  • $5 per $1,000 of construction valuation for residential properties
• Technology fee (fee schedule)

Required Inspections

1. Pre-construction meeting and site inspection conducted before any land-disturbing activity begins
2. The Building Inspector will provide a list of required inspections during the pre-construction meeting
