The Charter serves as the City's foundational governing document and functions as the constitution of the City of Sandy Springs.

Charter Commission Resources

The City Charter was established in 2005. In 2011, a Charter Commission was formed to review the Charter and make recommendations for amendments. All meetings were open to the public. View the Charter Commission Final Report (PDF).

City Charter

The official Charter of the City of Sandy Springs was established through Georgia House Bill 37 (HB 37/AP), as passed by the Georgia House of Representatives and Senate.

The Charter outlines the City's incorporation, governmental structure, powers, elected offices, administrative functions, boards and authorities, municipal court, financial administration, and other provisions governing municipal operations.
