Fire Extinguisher Requirements

Portable fire extinguishers must be properly sized and located in accordance with the International Fire Code and NFPA 10.

Fire extinguishers must be tested annually and display a Verification of Service collar around the neck of the extinguisher.

Portable extinguishers purchased from retail stores may not meet the Verification of Service requirement.

Portable fire extinguishers must remain visible and may not be obstructed from view.

The Sandy Springs Fire Department offers free training on the proper use of portable fire extinguishers.
