Elected Officials, City Leadership Cuts Tape

City of Sandy Springs Cuts Tape on New Police Headquarters and Municipal Court Complex

April 14, 2025

The City of Sandy Springs celebrated the opening of its new Police Headquarters and Municipal Court Complex on Saturday, April 12. Elected officials, City management, members of the Police Department and Municipal Court gathered with the community at 620 Morgan Falls Rd. to ceremoniously cut the crime scene tape and mark the completion of the state-of-the-art facility.

“As we get closer to the 20th anniversary of our incorporation on December 1 this year, it is the perfect time to reflect on where we have been and how far we’ve come,” said Mayor Rusty Paul. “This new Police Headquarters and Municipal Court Complex represents our growth, both in population and civic infrastructure. It also underscores our broader vision for development and investment in infrastructure to prepare Sandy Springs for the next twenty years, and beyond.”

In addition to remarks from Mayor Paul, City Manager Eden Freeman, Police Chief Ken Desimone, and Judge Donald Schaefer reflected on this milestone – the first City-owned facility to house the Police Headquarters and Municipal Court.

Officially opening for business on April 21, the new facility underscores the City's dedication to public safety and represents a substantial investment in modern facilities designed to better serve the community. Mayor Paul added “As we continue to grow and develop, this facility will ensure that Sandy Springs remains a place where people feel safe, protected and confident in our judicial process.”

The City acquired the 7.42-acre property in 2020, which included an existing 106,678-square-foot office building and at-grade parking. Jericho was brought on to provide design services, while Reeves + Young was selected as the construction contractor. Today, the redeveloped complex spans over 130,000 square feet. Including the cost of the land, the total investment in the project exceeded $56 million.
