Sandy Springs Selects New City Manager

December 17, 2021

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. (Dec. 17, 2021) — The City of Sandy Springs has selected Eden Freeman as its new city manager, effective Jan. 17, 2022.

Freeman has worked in local government for more than a decade, most recently for the City of Greenville, S.C. where she currently serves as deputy city manager. She served as city manager for the City of Winchester, Va. from 2014-2020. Prior to that, she was Sandy Springs’ assistant city manager from 2011-2014.

“We are delighted that Eden is coming home,” said Mayor Rusty Paul. “She served us as assistant city manager before becoming city manager in Winchester, Va. The last two years she has been deputy city manager of Greenville, S.C. She knows Sandy Springs and understands our expectations. I look forward to her arrival and assuming this key responsibility.”

In addition to her work in local government, Freeman has held various positions in state government with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Criminal Justice Coordinating Council in Georgia’s Office of the Governor, and Administrative Office of the Courts of Georgia.

“I am honored by the confidence the Mayor and Council have placed in me and am thrilled to be rejoining the team in Sandy Springs,” Freeman said. “There is a lot of exciting work ahead of us, and working together, I am confident we will continue to make Sandy Springs everything Mayor Eva Galambos and our other founding leaders dreamed it would be.”
