Impacts

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Warning in effect from 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening through 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 1.

January 31, 2026 – 5:00 a.m. Update

The City is currently expected to receive between 0.5 and 2 inches of snow. Snowfall has been delayed due to the slower arrival of colder temperatures.

Extremely cold wind chills are still expected later today and into Sunday.

January 30, 2026 – 2:00 p.m. Update

The City is currently under a Winter Storm Warning due to a combination of heavy snow accumulations (1–4 inches), very cold temperatures, and strong gusty winds expected between Friday night and Saturday night.

Most snowfall is expected between 4:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Saturday. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing through the weekend and rise above freezing around noon on Monday.

Public Works crews have been pretreating priority routes throughout the week, focusing on known icing locations and major roads, including routes serving hospitals and critical facilities. Crews will continue these efforts throughout the storm.

Residents are encouraged to stay home to allow emergency responders and road crews to work safely and efficiently.

To help prevent frozen pipes:

  • Open sink cabinet doors to allow warm air to circulate.
  • Wrap exposed pipes.
  • Disconnect outdoor hoses.

Parks and Recreation has also prepared for the weather. All Saturday classes are postponed, but parks will reopen once conditions are determined to be safe.

Warming Centers
  • City Hall Lobby: Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • Police Department Headquarters Lobby: Open 24 hours a day.

After-hours staffing is in place for Public Works and Public Safety teams to respond.
